Britain's Youngest Politicians

Newsbeat's Kat Collins finds out what life is like for Britain's youngest MPs and hears stories from some of those who ran for Parliament in the 2017 general election.

It's been a turbulent few months in politics since April 2017 when Prime Minister Theresa May called a snap general election. Britain's Youngest Politicians tracks that period through the stories of the teenagers and young adults who made the fairly unusual decision for people of their age - run for Parliament.

Newsbeat's Kat Collins hears from young MPs and political candidates around the country seeking office during the 2017 general election. While many believe young people turned out in record numbers to vote in this election, we find out what motivated some to go one step further, choosing to bring about change not just by voting for others but by standing for election themselves. We join them on the campaign trail, on election night, and during the successful few's first days in Westminster - and find out what it's really like to be a young person in Parliament.

We hear from candidates and MPs Mhairi Black (SNP), Jack Brereton (Conservative), Ben Lake (Plaid Cymru), Danielle Rowley (Labour), James Cox (Liberal Democrat) and Tom Harrison (UKIP) among others, finding out what it's like to be a young person in politics today, and why they'd encourage other young people to get involved too.
