New figures show a 65% increase in the number of acid attacks in London in just two years, with Newham the worst affected area - but the number of prosecutions is going down.

New figures from the Metropolitan Police show that there's been a 65% increase in the number of acid attacks in London in just two years, with Newham the worst affected area - but while the number of offences is going up, the numbers of arrests and prosecutions are going down. We talk to the police and the charity Acid Survivors Trust International to find out what can be done to tackle the growing problem.
Further alarming figures come to us care of the charity Action on Hearing, which has discovered that one in six people in the UK are suffering from auditory problems and many of them refuse to discuss the issue with their employers or loved ones because of a perceived stigma around subject, so we take an in-depth look at the problem after six thirty.
Elsewhere we hear from one of the thousands of people caught up in the California mudslides which have killed at least fifteen people; we ask how to get your children off to sleep after users of a wellbeing and sleep website vote overwhelmingly for explaining Chinese President Xi Jinping's road and rail building strategy; we talk to eighteen year-old racing- and stunt-driver Billy Monger who's returned to life behind the wheel just months after having both of his legs amputated following a crash at Donington Race Track and we hear from one of the hundred women who have joined the actress Catherine Deneuve in signing a letter in Le Monde newspaper saying men should continue to have the right to "hit on" women - and from another woman who disagrees.
