Columnist and banjo player Tim Dowling shares his 70s memories of growing up Stateside.

Tim was born in Connecticut in 1963 so the 70s were a formative decade for him - spanning all his teenage years. He moved to London in 1990 and became a newspaper columnist, playing banjo (which his wife bought for his birthday) in the band Police Dog Hogan since 2009 - something he writes self-deprecatingly about in his column.
