Carolyn Quinn and her guests, Conservative Tim Loughton, Labour's Catherine West and historian Anthony Seldon discuss what the Irish abortion referendum means for Northern Ireland.
Carolyn Quinn's guests this week are the former Children's Minister, Tim Loughton; Labour backbencher Catherine West; and the historian and educationalist, Sir Anthony Seldon. They discuss the implications for Northern Ireland of the referendum on abortion in the Republic, and they look forward to the return of the EU Withdrawal Bill to the House of Commons. They're joined by Sebastian Payne, digital comment editor of the Financial Times. The programme includes an interview with Theresa May's former speech-writer and director of strategy, Chris Wilkins about last year's general election campaign and what went wrong for the Conservatives. And reporter Keith Macdougall identifies a new rhetorical technique used by politicians to avoid the question they've been asked, by answering their own questions instead.
