Episode 6
Sara Cox joins eight rural romantics on their journey to find love. Farm contractor Buzz juggles dating two best friends, while farrier Mark keeps his options open.
Love in the Countryside is a six-part series that has taken eight rural dwellers from across the UK on a quest to find love, with the help of farmer's daughter Sara Cox. All eight rural romantics posted detailed dating profiles online in the hope of attracting letters from urban singles looking to quit the hectic 9-5 in favour of a slower pace of life, and they have been on a rollercoaster journey of romance and self-discovery.
In the series finale, we find out if farrier Mark and pig farmer Wendy have landed true love, and we catch up with dairy farmer Ed and his date Rebecca to see if their relationship has lasted the distance.
We also catch up with 33-year-old Worcestershire farm contractor Buzz, who is at the beginning of his journey to find love. Because of his hectic work schedule and his nervousness around women, Buzz has been struggling to find that perfect someone. From the speed dates he chose two women, who happen to be very good mates, from the Northamptonshire weightlifting circuit. He invited 27-year-old Justine, a teacher originally from Wales, and 31-year-old Emily, a travel agent from Northampton, to stay with him to see if they fancy farm life. Teacher Justine is the first to arrive at the B&B. But she barely has a chance to get her wellies on before Buzz is launching her into his life, and they get down and dirty on a muck-spreading date. Things don't get off to a great start. Buzz puts his foot in it over lunch and has to work to get things back on track by taking her for a walk up the Malvern hills to impress her with the picturesque views of his beloved countryside. While they are enjoying the view, his second date Emily arrives at the B&B and is less than impressed that neither Buzz or Justine are there to greet her, and she is left to stew on her own for over an hour before they return. Buzz is only just starting to relax with one date, and now he is going to have two to juggle. After a visit from Sara and a pep talk to help him control his nerves and show his feelings, can Buzz turn things around when he whisks Emily off on a one-on-one date?
In this final episode, we also catch up with 55-year-old farrier Mark who invited two women back to his beloved Norfolk. He bonded with florist Renita, and when she had to leave early because of work commitments Mark asked to see her again. After Renita had gone he and Sarah become close, and he was left in a bit of a pickle after saying he would see both of them again. But after dating both women again and making a final decision there is an unexpected twist in the tale.
While Mark is having a bumpy ride, the path to love is more smooth for pig farmer Wendy, who is about to give city life a whirl as she visits London to see if ex-banker Paul is the one for her. It has been six weeks since she chose Paul from the two men she invited back to her farm after the speed dates, and she is making the five-hour round trip for a second date, this time on his home turf. Paul lives on the outskirts of London, but he is determined to prove to Wendy that his heart is in the countryside by taking her to the wildlife sanctuary where he volunteers. Paul spent 20 years as a high-flyer in the City, and he is about to introduce Wendy to his close mates from his banker days, where she learns more about his wild past and fun-loving nature. The lunch goes well, but Paul has more in store for Wendy as he takes her on a whistle-stop tour around London, and the couple sit down to discuss whether love could be on the horizon. Paul has lived in suburbia all his life, but if he wants to have a future with Wendy he would have to leave his life and his friends behind. Will this be something he is prepared to consider?
After a fabulous few months the journey comes to an end, and we find out where the rest of our rural romantics are at in the quest to find love. Did they find love in the countryside?
