Michael Jackson would have been 60 next week, so from 7.00am the show counts down his 60 best-selling UK hits, and hears from collaborators, fans and listeners.

Radio 2 is dedicating a day to Michael Jackson 鈥� it would have been his 60th birthday next week 鈥� so from 7am we鈥檒l be counting down his 60 best-selling UK hits, and we鈥檒l also hear from collaborators, fans and listeners.

The countdown continues across the day through Ken Bruce and Ana Matronic, culminating at 3pm when Trevor Nelson plays out Michael Jackson's top 20 UK hits!

From Father Brian D鈥橝rcy, a Catholic Passionist priest:

In Ireland this weekend we had a visit from Pope Francis and that meant a hectic week of interviews, travelling and preparations. The Pope was in Dublin to attend the World Meeting of Families which takes place every three years in designated major cities.

This is a particularly difficult time for the Pope. The sexual abuse of children by priests dominated the news again. It鈥檚 a scandal I鈥檝e been exposing for nearly 30 years now.

Francis thankfully spent 90 minutes alone with survivors this weekend and promised zero tolerance for clerics who abuse. I like Pope Francis. Only for him I would not be a priest today. His more compassionate approach allows critics like me to continue in ministry. 鈥淎 little bit of mercy,鈥� he says, 鈥渕akes the world more forgiving and less cold.鈥�

I was struck by his humility. He came alive with ordinary people 鈥� especially the homeless, the children and families. He told parents that 3 words 鈥楶LEASE鈥� 鈥楾HANK YOU鈥� AND 鈥業鈥橫 SORRY鈥� still go a long way in any household.

He insists he too is a sinner in need of forgiveness. Six times he asked us to pray for him. It鈥檚 not a figure of speech either. 鈥淢y personal temptations are many, especially impatience, selfishness and a little bit of laziness.鈥澛� That鈥檚 a man who lives in the real world.

It was different back in 1979, when his predecessor, St John Paul 11 visited a very different Ireland. I was on the organising committee and when the Mass ended I rushed to a toilet underneath the platform. But when I opened the door I was in the wrong room. Staring at me was the Pope with Heads of State and Church, all tucking into a huge beef dinner.

They all laughed at my startled expression and beckoned me in. Just then the Pope was called away to his next engagement, leaving a plate of steaming beef behind and he was not pleased. Cardinal O鈥橣ee broke the tension telling me 鈥淪it down and eat his dinner Brian, because it鈥檚 the nearest you鈥檒l get to being Pope.鈥� That鈥檚 how I came to steal the Pope鈥檚 dinner.
