After filming finished, the Todds' stayed in Perth for another 2 weeks and visited different areas that were all beautiful. 聽They experienced some heavy rain and cooler temperatures that made them think if they 聽could love Perth in the winter then we could surely love it even more in the summer!!

Jodi spoke to her mum every day on the phone and was able to speak to loved ones much easier than anticipated, 聽which made the distance feel much less. Whilst in Australia, 聽Jodi's anxiety was controlled as she could only worry about her 聽little family rather than her extended family. However that left an overpowering sense of guilt. 聽During 聽their last day in Perth, 聽Joseph said to his mum 'mum please can we move here just think this could be our life everyday and you wouldn't be so worried and stressed all the time anymore'. That one little sentence was the pivotal point in Jodi realising she had to put 聽her children first in this heart heart wrenching decision.聽

Once back home Gareth worked hard to finish renovating the house and it was on the market shortly after. It was a really big decision as it is such a unique house with so much character and history and they knew they would never ever find one like this again. The Gables is a one off! Not surprisingly the house sold fast and that spurred them on to get the visa application underway.

Jodi told her mum about submitting the visa application and she was more supportive than they ever imagined. She has taken the news really well and the family speak openly about it which has really helped. Jodi's mum has talked about possibly coming over to visit once they are there, 聽so there is hope that may happen in the future as she has never been on a plane before!!聽

Gareth has remained very positive about the move and 100% sure it is the right decision. He has never faltered from the start. Jodi still have days where she is not sure and her anxiety kicks in. She is working hard to control that and has accepted that she 聽may never be 100% sure but has to give it a try as a family, 聽if only for the wonderful opportunities it has for the children.

The Todds' submitted their visa application in November 2018 and are currently waiting for it to be granted. They plan to let the children finish their school year in England before flying out to Perth in September 2019. They are very excited about the move and hope it will be a wonderful adventure..
