Linda is joined by Margaret Mary and Aneirin to make blackcurrant rice pudding. Before they start cooking they have to ensure they have all the ingredients. If not, they make a list and go shopping.

They also learn more about how blackcurrant juice is made and then return to the kitchen to make the rice pudding, before sitting down to tuck in.

STUTHAN
250ml sùgh ubhail
50g rus mìlseig, neo arborio
40g raosaran-dubha
2 spàin mhòr de shiùcair
½ spàin bheag bun-stuth faoineig

Iarr air inbheach an àmhainn ro-theasachadh gu 220C/425F/Gas 7.

Dòirt an sùgh ubhail ann an soitheach a tha freagarrach airson àmhainn, agus an uair sin cuir an rus ann.  

Ullaich na raosaran-dubha le bhith a’ toirt dhiubh stocain sam bith agus cuir dhan t-soitheach iad cuideachd. 

Cuir an siùcar agus am bun-stuth faoineig ris a seo. Measgaich gu math le spàin agus cuir ceann air an t-soitheach neo còmhdaich le foidhle. 

Cuir an soitheach air treidhe fuine agus iarr air inbheach a chur dhan àmhainn. Bruich airson 20 -30 mionaidean. Leig leis seasamh airson mu 10 mionaidean. Leig leis fuarachadh beagan mus ithear e.

Tha a’ mhìlseag seo math le uachdar. 

Rice Pudding with Blackcurrants

SERVES 2 

INGREDIENTS
250ml/8fl oz apple juice
50g/2oz arborio rice
40g/1½oz fresh blackcurrants
2 tbsp sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract

METHOD
Ask an adult to preheat the oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7.

Pour the juice into the ovenproof dish, then add the rice.

Prepare the blackcurrants by pinching out any woody stalks before adding them to the ovenproof dish.

Add the sugar and the vanilla extract. Give the mixture a stir and put on the lid. Place on a baking tray.

You’ll need to ask a grown-up to help with this part. Cook for 20 minutes then leave to stand for at least 10 minutes with the lid on (the rice will carry on cooking). When the rice has cooled a bit, you can eat it!

This pudding is good with cream.
