Katie Derham introduces live coverage from London’s Royal Albert Hall of the climax of the world’s greatest classical music festival. Sakari Oramo conducts the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Singers through an energetic programme, including the overture to Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, Grainger’s Marching Song of Democracy, Harold Arlen’s Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Gershwin’s I Got Rhythm. The traditional Last Night classics promise to bring the 125th Proms season to a spirited close, including Henry Wood’s Fantasia on British Sea-Songs, Rule, Britannia!, Parry’s Jerusalem and Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No.1.
