Episode 6
The dealers bid on a Hornby train set, some crystalware and a catalogue from an auction to raise money for the families of the victims of the Titanic disaster.
Nigel Havers welcomes four more sellers to the Bidding Room, where they try to sell items to five professional dealers who are on the look out for interesting pieces, with help from expert Simon Bower.
Ian from Essex brings in a selection of classic Hornby trains, tracks, stations and other bits of kit to make the perfect kid’s collection. He is selling the set after his father-in-law passed away, and Ian wants to put the money towards a memorial stone for him. Anoushka from Newcastle is selling an intriguing item of crystalware. She thinks it is a genuine piece by Lalique – if it is, that could push the price through the roof. But can she still convince the dealers?
Mike's highly decorated piece has the dealers well and truly confused. Is it a toilet brush, a musical instrument, a mortar and pestle or something else entirely? Kathy from Leicester is offering a catalogue of items for an auction to help the families of victims of the Titanic disaster, organised soon after the ship went down. Titanic-related memorabilia usually sells well, so can she convince the dealers to spend their own cash on the catalogue?
The dealers today are Adi Higham, James Gooch, James Broad, Lucy Ryder Richardson and Tash Francis.
