No Planet B: Energy

Professor John Barry looks at transport, home heating and food production, and asks what needs to change to help address climate change.

³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio Ulster’s new environmental series ‘No Planet B’ returns with a look at some of biggest challenges facing our environment while also celebrating the wonderfully diverse wildlife and landscapes on our doorstep.
In the first episode ‘Energy’ – Professor John Barry of Queen’s University asks if enough is being done to tackle the ‘climate emergency’ declared by the NI Assembly in February of this year, assessing how it compares to the Covid-19 emergency response.
Professor Barry argues that we need to make big changes now, and looks at three important areas of our daily lives; transport, energy efficiency in the home and sustainable food production. Featuring contributions from Minister for Infrastructure Nichola Mallon, Translink CEO Chris Conway, SUSTRANS director Caroline Bloomfield, organic farmer John McCormick, Kerry Melville of the Belfast Food Network and Andrew Frew of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.
