Episode 5 of 8

Paramedics rush to a road traffic accident where a car has flipped off the road, and respond to patients struggling to breathe.

In this episode, we follow ambulance crews in the Borders, Edinburgh, Paisley and Stirling as they deal with emergency calls.

Special operations paramedics are called to the scene of a road traffic accident near Kinross where a car has flipped off the road and landed in a ditch. Mark and Alex must assess whether the patient has sustained any head injuries after hitting his head on the windscreen.

In Dunfermline, Billy and Jason rush to a choking patient facing an immediate threat to life, while Andy and Tracey in Paisley are also called to a patient who is struggling to breathe.

In Edinburgh, rapid response paramedic Mat is called to a time-critical case where a patient may be having a stroke, and in another part of the city, paramedic Martyn and technician Kevin are called to an elderly patient who has fallen on an icy pedestrianised street.

Meanwhile, Technician Pete and paramedic Gary are called to a patient in Paisley who has fallen down the stairs, but they quickly realise he needs more support than just medical care.
