Ruth and Mark discover a legacy of songs and stories, and meet local artists with a passion for preserving and celebrating the place they call home in North Antrim.

This episode sees Ruth and Mark make their way to the Ulster-Scots heartland of Ballymoney, one of Ireland’s oldest market towns, brimming with stories and characters.

Ruth catches up with local journalist Jonnie Crawford in the Diamond to learn more about the town and its people. Meanwhile, Mark uncovers stories of visits to the White House and talks to Ulster-Scots poet Charlie Gillen about preserving and celebrating the local legacy of songs, stories and poems.

Ruth discovers the founder of one of America’s largest chain superstores was also fiercely proud of his Ulster roots, while Jordan Mogey performs I Saw the Light and talks to Mark about the transatlantic story of music from his home place.
