Wales Starter
Four chefs compete for Wales with canapes, starters and fish dishes inspired by British invention and innovation. Who will be eliminated?
The four chefs competing for the top spot in the Wales heat are a mix of exciting new talent and one popular returner.
Hywel Griffith is determined to get to finals again and go one step further to the banquet. In addition to Hywel, currently chef patron of the Michelin-starred Beach House on the Gower, there are three new talented Welshmen competing. Cardiff-born Chris Cleghorn runs the Michelin-starred Olive Tree in Bath. Nathan Davies has his own restaurant in Aberystwyth, where he sources most of his ingredients locally. Finally, hailing from Anglesey, Ali Borer is now head chef of Nutbourne Restaurant in London.
Presenter Andi Oliver welcomes them to the kitchen, where the theme for this year鈥檚 competition is a celebration of British invention and innovation. One of the four must leave the competition at the end of the episode. Which one that is will be decided by the veteran judge of this week鈥檚 competition, a previous winner who remains a surprise to the chefs until the moment they walk into the kitchen to taste their first course: canapes.
