GB in medal contention in the afternoon athletics session, plus hockey and karate.
The athletics sees medals given in the women's pole vault, men's 400m, the women's heptathlon and the men's decathlon. GB's Holly Bradshaw is looking to secure her nations first ever medal in the pole vault. The Brit finished sixth at London 2012 and fifth in Rio 2016 but will be looking to better that performance in what will be a close final. The men are in the closing stages of the decathlon competition with the conclusion of the javelin, as well as the final event in the 1,500m. World number one Damian Warner is leading coming into the final session and he is looking to break the magical 9,000 point mark, and smash the Olympic record. There is a gold medal to be had in the men's 400m final. Kirani James breezed Katarina Johnson-Thompson was out of the heptathlon leaving favourite Nafissatou Thiam in pole position to take the gold. The medals would be awarded in this session as the athletes conclude their competition with the 800m. Hot on Thiam's heels are fellow countrywoman Noor Vidts and Dutch duo Anouk Vetter and Emma Oosterwegel. There are a trio of American competitors looking to break into the top ten, too. Plus highlights of the morning athletics session, the men's hockey gold medal match, and the karate.
