Angie, a matron at Airedale General Hospital in West Yorkshire, nominates a local primary school, St. Anne’s in Keighley. During lockdown, children from the school fundraised for the hospital, raising over ten times their initial £200 target by taking part in sponsored exercise. Their donation has helped fund the hospital’s wellbeing gardens, which staff, patients and families use for respite. To thank them, expert woodworker Saf and his team build a huge rainbow bookshelf for the school’s library, designed to encourage the children to read. It’s a struggle at times for Jabbar, who confides to Jay and his teammate Kate about his learning difficulties.

Jay travels to Hebden Bridge in the Calder Valley – an area that has suffered from heavy flooding and damage in the past few years. Here he meets local resident Karen, who wants to nominate Trevor, a volunteer flood warden who has helped Karen and other local residents when their homes have been devastated. Isabelle’s team get to work on an armchair and footstool inspired by a local bridge as a surprise thank you for Trevor - but some tricky joinery really pushes the team.

Finally, Ciaran’s team create a raised dog bed for Kane. He’s the devoted companion and helper of nine-year-old Jack, a fun-loving boy who, despite having Duchenne muscular dystrophy, helps with clinical research. The bed will let Kane share Jack’s room with more comfort.
