Chrimea st猫idhich iad r猫isimeid 脿s 霉r ann an Gotland agus chaidh a neartachadh
bho chionn ghoirid. Chan eil an t-Suain mar ph脿irt de NATO, ach tha aonta co-obrachaidh aca
leis a' bhuidheann. Leis gu bheil Gotland suidhichte faisg air na d霉thchannan
Baltaiceach tha beachd ann gum biodh e cudromach gus an sg矛re sin a dh矛on nan
toireadh an Ruis ionnsaigh oirre. Tha cuid a' meas Gotland mar "shoitheach-phl猫anaichean nach gabh a chur

Gotland
Sweden established an
army base on the Baltic Sea island of Gotland in 1811 after a Russian invasion.
It was closed in 2005 when many thought there would be lasting peace in Europe.
But when Russia took over Crimea they re-established a regiment on Gotland and
reinforced it recently. Sweden is not a part of NATO, but has a cooperation
agreement with the alliance. Because Gotland is situated near the Baltic
countries some say it could be important in the defence of that area in the
face of a Russian attack. Gotland has been called an "unsinkable aircraft
carrier".
