Writing in Ulster-Scots at school, a family’s legacy in words and music, and remembering a game of football with George Best

Pupils at Coleraine College writing poetry in Ulster-Scots, forgotten words and music brought to light in Ballycarry, and playing on the same team as George Best.

Dr Frank Ferguson tells the team about a project with pupils from Coleraine College, and year 11 pupils share their Ulster-Scots poems.

Diana Culbertson’s football crazy dad – Billy Atkinson - tells her about the day he played on the same team as George Best.

Helen visits Dr David Hume’s home for a closer look at a box of his grandfather’s verses and music recently discovered in the attic. It includes a tune that hasn’t been played for at least 80 years – a challenge for David’s cousin Billy Teare.

Listeners with a yarn, a song or a poem to share, or even an Ulster-Scots event to promote are encouraged to get in touch with the Kintra team by email - kintra@bbc.co.uk.
