With a record-breaking 13th World Championship title, Pipe Major Richard Parkes MBE has made Northern Ireland’s Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band a household name. Having been part of the band for around half a century he talks about overcoming major illness to lead them to victory time and again. Helen Mark and Rab Lennox are in conversation with Richard about that journey and some of his favourite music – and it’s not all about the bagpipes!
