Edi Stark talks to Frances Guy who has spent much of her career in the diplomatic service in the Middle east, working in her own inimitable way in a quest for justice. With a great sense of fun, and love for the people in the Arab World, she talks about her time posted in Sudan, and as British ambassador in Yemen and Lebanon. Beyond her successful career at the foreign office, she鈥檚 also worked for Christian Aid as head of their middle east team, for UN Women in Iraq and the United Nations Development programme in Jordan. She is now CEO of Scotland鈥檚 international Development Alliance. As Edi points out, for someone whose family holidays were on the west coast of Scotland, it may not have been obvious that in adulthood, she鈥檇 be sitting in hotels in Turkey negotiating with the Syrian opposition or with men holding Kalashnikovs on their knee.
