The Noisy Cone

Fred and Pete discover a strange horn that was once used by the fishermen in Cornwall to help them find fish. They also get to eat stargazy pie, a special Cornish delicacy.

Fred is finding that treasure-hunting when you鈥檙e hungry is really hard. However, that doesn鈥檛 stop him and Pete finding a long, black-and-white-striped metal cone in the sand. They know it's treasure, but what kind? Suzy quickly identifies that it鈥檚 a horn that makes a loud noise. Suzy sends the boys off to a fishmonger, where Kay points out that it's a huer鈥檚 horn used to helped fishermen find fish. But how could blowing a horn help anyone find fish? Suzy rings on the Treasure Comm and directs Fred and Pete to visit a huer鈥檚 hut on the cliffs above Newquay.

There, they meet Karl, who explains that the horn was blown to indicate that the huer had seen some fish. Karl then shows Fred and Pete how the huer would use signals to get the fishing fleet into position. Fred and Pete decide to put this to the test. Unfortunately, the wind and a swarm of bees play havoc with Pete鈥檚 directions, but Fred somehow ends up back in the fishmonger, where he buys some Cornish sardines. Suzy rings up on the Treasure Comm and tells him that they鈥檒l go well in a Cornish delicacy known as a stargazy pie.
