A look at Barbie's phenomenal success and Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. Away from cinemas, Tom Brook meets a striking actor to find out what she hopes the strike will achieve.

Talking Movies looks at the phenomenal success of Barbie, the first film single-handedly directed by a woman to have made more than a billion dollars at the box office. Although Barbie came to define 2023's summer blockbuster season, there were other movies that performed well, including director Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.

Talking Movies reports on why the film, which has been a big critical and commercial success in North America and Europe, was met with resistance in India and Japan.

Away from cinemas, the big story during blockbuster season was the actors' and writers' strike. Presenter Tom Brook meets a striking New York actor to find out what she hopes the strike will achieve.
