Training to Save Lives

Episode 1 of 10

In Calshot, the RNLI crew are called out to a young man who has lost consciousness in a jet ski accident; when his heart stops, it鈥檚 a race against time to bring him back to life.

As well as dropping everything when the pager sounds, the volunteer crews of the RNLI also train regularly - so that when the call does come, everyone is primed and ready.

In Calshot, the crew鈥檚 medical training is tested to the limit as they respond to a young man who has lost consciousness in a jet ski accident. Meanwhile, Jon, the full-time coxswain at Dover, needs all of his experience to rescue two anglers who are in danger of being washed off a pier.

The crews of New Brighton and Hoylake are forced to pool resources to help a man stuck in the mud as the tide rises around him. And in Hartlepool, the crew face an unusual challenge: picking up a chihuahua - and its owner - drifting out to sea on a paddleboard.
