Happy Birthday Lionel Richie!

Johnnie revisits a classic interview to mark Lionel Richie's 75th birthday.

For Lionel Richie, the 1970s were his formative years. Although The Commodores began life as a funk band, Lionel's songwriting skills also helped them carve out a reputation for writing a hit ballad or two, as well. Though we know he went on to major solo success in the 1980s, he still managed to shift over 70 million albums with The Commodores - not bad for a kid from Tuskegee, Alabama. Hear him chatting to Johnnie in an archive interview from 2012, to help celebrate Lionel's 75th birthday.
