Chamber music from Edinburgh and great heights reached at the Proms
Chamber music from the Edinburgh International Festival and the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Symphony Orchestra and Sakari Oramo performing Strauss’s Alpine Symphony at the Proms.
Elizabeth Alker introduces exclusive recordings made at some of this year’s summer music festivals. Award-winning French guitarist Raphael Feuillatre makes his Edinburgh International Festival debut with an exploration of Baroque music. It’s a particular interest of his. Today he plays his own arrangement of music by JS Bach, alongside works by Scarlatti, Francois Couperin and Jacques Duphly. Plus the Leonore Piano Trio play a work admired and performed by Johannes Brahms, Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio.
From this year’s ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Proms the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Symphony Orchestra and Sakari Oramo present a programme which includes Richard Strauss’s epic musical depiction of a journey into the Alps - An Alpine Symphony - inspired by a climbing trip the composer made as a young teen.
