Band Aid: In a 40th Anniversary special, every artist on the show tonight appeared on the original version of Do They Know It’s Christmas!

This week on Grant Stott’s Vinyl Collective, it’s a Band Aid 40th Anniversary special!

40 years on, Grant pays tribute to Band Aid; every artist he’ll play appeared on the original version of Do They Know It’s Christmas?

The charity single, penned by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for the 1983–1985 famine in Ethiopia was released on December 7th, 1984, following the recording on November 25th. It entered the UK charts at number one and would stay there for five weeks, becoming the Christmas number one of 1984.

He’ll have music from George Michael, Duran Duran, Sting, Spandau Ballet, U2, Phil Collins, Paul Weller, Kool & The Gang, Status Quo, Bananarama and many more.

It’s two hours of classic cuts all played from 7", 12" and vinyl LPs.
