Huw has an extended edition of 6 Musicology, where we find out more about how the music we love is made, alongside two of the UK's first professors of songwriting - Elbow's Guy Garvey and Sophie Daniels. In this hour-long special the two professors will discuss the songwriters that inspire them as well as songwriters who create unique and distinctive music, and much more.

As well as presenting his Sunday afternoon show on 成人论坛 Radio 6 Music and fronting the acclaimed band Elbow for over 25 years, Guy Garvey became a visiting Professor of Songwriting at the Manchester Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan in 2018. Amongst his achievements Guy has eleven studio albums through Elbow and as a solo artist. Elbow have won multiple Ivor Novello Awards for their songwriting, as well as the Mercury Music Prize and a BRIT award. Guy is a member of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors and received an honorary doctorate from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2012.

Professor Sophie Daniels teaches at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, following a former career as a professional songwriter. She is also a Principle Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has been contributing to Huw's show on 6 Music as part of 6 Musicology since the start of the year.
