Gareth Malone, choirmaster and broadcaster, introduces his favourite classical Christmas music.

As Christmas approaches, choirmaster and broadcaster Gareth Malone chooses an eclectic mix of seasonal music to put the tinsel into your evening, bringing festive cheer as you wind down at the end of the day. Expect sleigh bells, wassailing, yuletide brass, and of course some finely sung carols along the way, in the first of two special programmes for Christmas.

In today's programme, Gareth is joined by conductor, harpsichordist and director of Chineke! Voices, Joseph McHardy. Also dropping in will be composer and former Kings Singer BIll Ives, hot foot from hearing his new carol being rehearsed in King's College Chapel, Cambridge, in preparation for the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve.
