On January 19th 2019 Talking Movies will mark its twentieth anniversary with a special show looking at the changes that have taken place over the two decades the programme has been on the air. Top Hollywood names contribute to this special edition including Emma Stone, Saoirse Ronan and Rachel Weisz. Using material from the programme's extensive archive. Talking Movies will look back at the Oscars from 1999 assessing the changing status of Hollywood's biggest night of the year. The show will look at how star power has faded in the last twenty years with social media playing a role in reducing the pull of many Hollywood A-listers at the box office. The team will also look at the increasing globalisation of the movie industry - more specifically exploring what difference the opening up of China's box office may have on the way Hollywood makes films.
