Winter warblers

By April the heathlands of the south are bursting with flowering gorse. A Dartford warbler is perched in the gorse, looking for a mate. Unlike other warblers, who migrate away for the winter, the Dartford warbler stays in Britain all year round. While the male sings, the female feeds on insects in the gorse blooms where she will eventually build their nest.
