Bijou falcon

There's one sure way to tell a kestrel from a sparrowhawk, other than that sparrowhawks usually hang around in the woods where we don't really see them. The kestrel is the only one that can hover. Their classic triangular shape is repeated on badges and medals as an emblem. They have a habit of nesting on high ledges near office windows for all the workers to enjoy as chicks grow into young adults and practise their hunting skills. They may be the scourge of all small mammals, but they do get bullied themselves, usually by crows and magpies who love ganging up on this small falcon.
