Dartmoor birds

Bill Oddie isn't disappointed when he goes looking for stonechats and wheatears on Dartmoor. The stonechats perch on the top of gorse bushes and bracken. Wheatears might be found lower down the valley and along the dry stone walls. They aren't named after wheat or ears - their name is a corruption of the Old Norse for 'white arse', because their white bottoms are visible as they fly away.
