Angry parents
Down by St Kilda's shore it's really quite sunny and warm, but a little bit higher up is mist, which seems appropriate over these heathy areas. There are birds here too - the Arctic skua. He looks kind of forbidding and threatening. Believe you me, if you were a small bird passing through here, or even quite a big one you'd have reason to be scared of these guys because their Latin name is Parasiticus - they're a bit more active than your average parasite because they will chase other birds and make them regurgitate their food and they'll also defend their territory and young very vehemently. The skua dive bombs Bill and the camera. The local name, and this is Hebridians talking, is shitebird. A nearby youngster can be identified by its barred plumage. Bill straps his camera bag to his head for protection!
