Video: Native plants Pavilion Tour with Christine Walkden
Well known for its exotic plants and displays the Great Pavilion is a great place to track down our natural natives. Christine Walkden found our very own English Elm which is making a come back after numbers were ravaged by Dutch Elm Disease. She also discovered that comfrey can be used as a healing poultice and learnt more about cross-breeding foxgloves. But it’s not just herbs and trees, we have native bulbs too and one of the most extraordinary is our Snake’s head fritillary, at home in a damp meadow it’s chequered pattern is a real treat for anyone with the right conditions in their garden.
