Jackson, breaking into suspect Graham Hatter's house, is caught by Hatter's wife, Gloria. Jackson tells her that a violent man is driving a car registered to Graham and points to the man in a photograph in the house. She confirms he is her husband'semployee.

The phone rings and Gloria tells the caller that her husband is in Thurso on business, a claim which Jackson challenges and she eventually confesses that he is in hospital, unlikely to recover.

Jackson reads Gloria, a text which arrives on Graham's phone. It's from Graham's secretary who, Gloria reveals, is having an affair with her husband. The text asks Graham if he's left Gloria yet. Jackson replies as Graham saying he's in Thurso. Gloria warms to him.
