Ex-MI5 head: Dialogue with Gaddafi was "right decision"
The former director-general of MI5, Eliza Manningham-Buller, has said the British government's decision to engage Colonel Gaddafi in 2003 was the "right decision".
Speaking in the third of her 成人论坛 Reith Lectures, she said the prize of bringing Gaddafi in from the cold was his abandonment of his nuclear and chemical weapons programmes.
"Had he made progress with his nuclear programme he could still be in power today and threatening us," said Baroness Manningham-Buller.
