Gunboat Diplomacy
The term ‘gunboat diplomacy’ was coined during the Opium Wars in China during the mid 19th century. Brian Cox reveals how the British government forced the Chinese at gunpoint to trade tea for opium. The war would be later described as ‘the most disgraceful war in our history.’
