In 1965, despite huge protests including some small bombs and parliamentary opposition by all of Wales' MP's the village of Capel Celyn near Bala was drowned under the newly formed Tryweryn reservoir in order to provide a new water supply for Liverpool. The village residents, all Welsh speaking, were moved out. Village buildings were flattened and graves in the chapel cemetery were moved elsewhere. Includes footage of work on the dam and some of the protests in a news report from the time.
