What is friction?
Friction is described as a force that resists motion, which acts in the opposite direction. A cyclist's tyres and the road are used as an example. The fact friction is also seen in liquids and gases is mentioned. Increased mass, rougher surfaces and greater areas of contact are given as ways in which friction can be increased.
