African Americans share encounters of police 'racism'
The issue of race has haunted America for generations - nowhere more than in the area of law enforcement.
Last year saw riots in Ferguson, Missouri over the shooting of black teenager Michael Brown, and nationwide protests after 43-year-old Eric Garner died after being restrained in a chokehold by a New York police officer.
Using social media, 5 live Daily asked four ordinary African Americans to give examples of encounters with the police they believe were motivated by racism.
One woman described how - after she was hit by a car - a police officer questioned her "harshly" from her hospital bed and reported that she was responsible for the accident.
