Death or Glory Records to close

Death or Glory Records to close
One of the most influential music venues in ‪‎Redditch‬ closed its doors for the final time today, 14 months after they started trading.
Ìý
Death or Glory Records is situated at Church Green in the town centre and has been used as a recording studio, performance space, record label and music shop.
Ìý
Its owner, Steve Hadley, says they'll continue with an online shop and will still be supporting local bands by running events, forums and workshops - but having a town centre premises isn't sustainable with his rent being increased to £3000 a month.
Ìý
Steve says: "I have forfeited a wage and put all the money I have into it. So it isn't easy to walk away from.
Ìý
"The reality is although there are some very good bands in the area the viewing public isn't there.
Ìý
"We have had Frank Turner and The Voyeurs in the shop in the last two weeks, been in NME again and still people aren't as bothered as I would have hoped.
Ìý
"I will continue looking for alternative properties and applying for funding."
