Through the keyhole of the Palace of Westminster
Water leaking through the roof, basements crammed with cables and a rusty roof. The man in charge of the Palace of Westminster's upkeep, Liberal Democrat MP John Thurso, took 5 live's John Pienaar on a tour of the crumbling building.
Contractors are currently assessing what repairs are needed. The bill is expected to be in the region of £3bn.
John Thurso said the work is essential as he believes the public would have "great difficulty with this building with no roof on it at all, that would be the worst outcome of all".
