A former banker tells The Report about the discrimination she was subject to at the office where she worked.
In April 2015 an employment tribunal awarded Svetlana Lokhova £3.2m in compensation because of the way she was treated at the London office of the Russian investment bank, Sberbank CIB (UK) Ltd.
The tribunal found that Svetlana’s line manager spread vicious lies to colleagues and clients that she was a Class A drug user, ruining her career in finance and causing her extreme mental illness.
In her first interview since the judgment she told the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ she owes over two million pounds in legal costs and the case had taken a huge toll on her health and her family.
Sberbank CIB is appealing against the amount the tribunal said it has to pay in damages.
In a statement the bank said the incidents Svetlana Lokhova experienced were isolated and unrepresentative of its working environment.
They insist they are an equal opportunities employer and have taken steps to ensure it doesn't happen again.
