Founded in 2007 by Nelson Mandela, The Elders are a group of the world鈥檚 elder statesmen who use their experience to advise on conflict, resolution and human rights. Their most recent trip was to Moscow in April 2015 when six of them met President Putin.

In this special encounter the four elders are: Kofi Annan - Chair of The Elders, United Nations Secretary-General 1997-2006, Nobel Peace Laureate 2001, UN/Arab League Joint Special Envoy on the Syrian crisis 2012; Jimmy Carter - 39th President of the USA 1977-1981, Nobel Peace Laureate 2002; Mary Robinson, President of Ireland 1990-1997, appointed the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Climate Change in 2014; Hina Jilani, founder of Pakistan鈥檚 first all-women law firm, advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan since 1992, UN Special Representative on Human Rights Defenders 2000-2008.

And in the studio audience, there will be 15 students from around the world. They pose questions to the Elders on a range of topics including the rise of Islamic State and the future of Syria and Iraq, Russia and Ukraine, migration and women鈥檚 rights and climate change.
