Ted Robbins: 'Corrie role is not as hard as stand-up'
The actor and comedian Ted Robbins is joining the cast of Coronation Street . Earlier this year Ted suffered a near fatal heart attack while he was performing in the Phoenix Nights show at the Manchester Arena.
He landed the job six months to the very day he collapsed on stage. He says his new role is now as hard as stand-up adding: "It鈥檚 not really work, doing a bit of Corrie, it鈥檚 lovely. I do a couple of scenes and then I leisurely come home again and then I do a bit more and just show off. Compared to stand-up stuff it鈥檚 lovely, there鈥檚 no pressure."
He added: 鈥淚t is just wonderful and an amazing coincidence that I got the part exactly six months to the day since I had my cardiac arrest. 鈥淎nd then my first day recording in the Cabin with Rita, Norris and Mary was on my 60th birthday, it was a wonderful day.鈥
