Australians are discussing a documentary about the experiences of children brought up by same-sex couples. "Gayby Baby" follows the lives of four children growing up with either two mums or two dads at home.

But the New South Wales government has instructed schools not to show the film in classrooms during school hours. It was going to be screened as part of a day to promote tolerance and diversity. The state Premier says viewing the film should be "optional".
