The world's fastest tortoise travels at 0.6 mph
Bertie the tortoise has broken a Guinness world record that has stood since 1977, by becoming the world's fastest tortoise at a speed of 0.6 miles-per-hour.
His owner, Janine Calzine from County Durham, said it was customers at the children's adventure park she owns, who noticed he was "really fast for a tortoise" and "loves walking around".
The ten-year-old South African leopard tortoise "enjoys being out and meeting people" according to Janine, who added that he has not managed to run away from her yet.
