A series of reports on the treatment of mental illness around the world. This week a report from the village of Geel in Belgium on Saint Dymphna, the patron saint of the mentally ill. Geel has world class psychiatric facilities but is virtually unique as a place where mentally ill inhabitants lead normal, useful lives in the homes of local citizens.
