Bark beetle sounds used to control bark beetle pests
Brett Westwood explains how the recording of bark beetles for an artistic project inspired a method of pest control. The stress calls made by the beetles were recorded and played back into trees to alter the animals' behaviour and thereby reduce the damage they do to trees.
