Is News Failing Women?

Debate: Why and how news is failing women, and what can be done to change the situation?

How does the news represent women? Are they fairly featured? Reports show that in some countries women are less likely to consume traditional news media but are far more engaged than men on social media and emerging platforms in others. Why is that?

Four of the world鈥檚 leading news editors, Ben de Pear, editor of Channel 4 News, Kate O'Brian, president of Al Jazeera America and Fran Unsworth, deputy director of News and Current Affairs at the 成人论坛 and Verashni Pillay editor-in-chief of the Mail and Guardian discuss the issues in front of an audience of news consumers, journalists, bloggers, activists and academics to look at the reasons why, and debate what needs to be done to change it.
